The flexi continental plastic covered peanut jointed snaffle is also knownas a 4 ring dutch gag or a bubble bit. Continental bits raise the bit up in the horses mouth like aconventional gag, however there is a limit to the extent that the bit can be raised which makes the continental gag less severe than a conventional version. A substantial amount of poll pressureis easily achieved on the lower setting of the dutch gag which means that two reins should be used to produce a correct contact which can bemaintained on the snaffle rein without poll pressure when able.

Thecheek of the plastic covered peanut jointed dutch gag is made from a series ofsteel rings, the main snaffle ring with one smaller ring above and twobelow, this enables a variety of different positions for the reins.Correctly, the 4 ring bit should be used with two reins, one on the mainsnaffle ring, and a second on either of the lower two smaller ringsdepending on the amount of poll pressure needed. Often this bit isused with only one rein on one of the lower rings, but ideally if only one rein is used, the bit should be used with roundings which will maintain a bettercontact with the horses mouth. Originally designed to mimic the effectof draw reins in the showjumping arena, the continental snaffle is apopular bit for horses and ponies, and useful for horses that do not like acurb but respond well to poll pressure.

Peanut mouthpieces soften the action of a single jointed bit byeliminating the nutcracker action and are a little more positive inaction than a french link. Made from TPU plastic and has metal all theway through.

Available in 5" or 5.5"

Please note that bits which have had the tags removed or have been in contact with the horses mouth cannot be returned for health & safety reasons.
