The copper roller full cheek snaffle is a moderate-mild bit which is useful for aiding steering and helps control the sidewaysmovement of the head. The mouthpiece has copper and stainless steelrollers that put additional pressure on the tongue and make it hard forthe horse to pull against or lean on.
The full cheek copper roller snaffle is good for horses that require a stronger bit than a jointed snaffle because they lean or try to grabthe bit. The stainless steel and copper rollers placed alongthe mouthpiece of the snaffle allow the bit to roll up the mouth freely, andhelp to prevent the horses from taking hold of the bit. Thejointed mouthpiece provides a nutcracker actionon the bars, and does make contact with the palate. Full cheek bits are often used to help with steering, as the cheek gives a more distinct action against thecheek when the rider asks for a turn.
Copper mouthpieces are warmer and softer than stainless steel. They also give a pleasant taste unlikestainless steel. Almost every horse will prefer and react to a copper mouth piece byproducing a soft mouth and salivating more than when ridden with a completely stainless steel mouth piece.
Full cheek snaffles should be used in conjunction with fulmer loops which fix thetop part of the bit cheek to the cheek pieces on the bridle to prevent the bit from becoming a hazard. Securingthe cheek also allows a small amount of poll pressure which helps to encourage a lower outline.
This bit is dressage legal.
